  • Create content
  • Master content promotion
  • Conquer Google
  • Email your list
  • Create funnels
  • …and more…

But before you get too overwhelmed by all that, consider establishing healthy, successful blogger habits right from the get-go.

And if you’ve been around for a hot minute but have some bad habits, it’s time to change! These 6 habits are must-haves for success in the blogging industry.

Successful Blogger Habit #1: APPLY WHAT YOU LEARNED

One of the biggest pitfalls for new bloggers, and even more experienced ones, is getting caught in the cycle of learning.

If you aren’t intentional, you can become a perpetual student who consumes knowledge but never gets around to implementing it.

But successful bloggers? They learn something and then put their blinders on and put it into practice!

Successful Blogger Habit #2: SCHEDULE YOUR MINUTES

Seriously, successful people account for their time and they take it seriously. And even if you’re not successful (yet!), you want to be. So act like you are by cultivating successful habits.

Habits create success and one habit all successful people have in common is that they manage their time well.

If you have 2 hours a day to devote to growing your blog, you need to make sure that every single one of this 120 minutes is used well.

If you waste 10 of those minutes checking in on Facebook or scrolling through Pinterest, you’re short-changing yourself by delaying your own success.

Consider setting a timer; it helps you go “all in” during your work hours. Be fully present for your business when it’s business time.

Successful Blogger Habit #3: WRITE CONSISTENTLY

One of the best habits you can start is writing daily. 90% of what you write may end up getting culled when you edit, but by writing a lot and often you are training your brain. The more you write, the better you’ll get and the less time it will take you in the future to write a value-packed blog post.

Write, write, write. And then write some more.

Successful Blogger Habit #4: PROMOTE MORE

Another common pitfall among new bloggers is believing that the internet is a wide-open field of dreams. Just because you build it, does not mean they will come.

You need to promote your content.

You’ve heard of the 80/20 rule, right? In blogging that means spend 20% of your time creating content, and 80% of your time promoting it.

Promotion time includes keyword research and implementation, Pinterest keyword searching, Pin design, sharing on Facebook, networking, and e-mailing…for a start. It can grow well past this, but you get the idea.

You’ve written something valuable, but now you need to get it out there!

Successful Blogger Habit #5: KEEP GROWING

Don’t forget that there’s always something to learn and another way to grow.

While you want to avoid the habit of becoming a constant consumer of information instead of an implementer of it, you do need to keep growing. This isn’t just referring to a new skill, but also your mindset. Sometimes we get in our own way…and you want to avoid that. There are enough hurdles out there without bringing your own to the game.

Never stop expanding your skillset, honing your craft, or growing your mindset.

Successful Blogger Habit #6: STAY FOCUSED

And perhaps one of the most essential habits of a successful blogger is FOCUS. It takes practice to put your head down and do the work.

It might sound elementary, but there is so much awesome information to consume, so many great people to listen to, and so many awesome blogs to check out that you can spend a lifetime being distracted by it all.

Sure you’re learning, but if you don’t stay focused you’ll never get anywhere (remember habit #1?).

Don’t get stuck in the trap of always looking around to see what others are doing. Don’t keep looking to see what new things are happening.

Focus on your business so it will grow!

Remember, it’s not about big, flashy actions here and there. Consistent habits are what will lead to your success!
